Do you like movie trailers? Of course, you do. The releasing of new trailers has become a really big deal, and their popularity is really second only to the movie itself. In the lead up to new releases, people pour over trailers incessantly trying to figure out what details they show. Or maybe that’s just us. Anyway, for people who love a good movie trailer, here’s a montage of, well, all of them from 2015.

To be fair, it’s more like three trailers, or maybe three different cuts of a trailer for the same movie. Sometimes studios cut trailers in many different ways in order to appeal to different sorts of audiences. This massive trailer mashup starts with what we’ll call the hero/monster movie trailer, moves onto the pure action movie trailer and then ends with the inspirational movie. While the movie they’re advertising honestly doesn’t make any sense, the general feeling the trailer evokes is on par with what they’re trying to accomplish. Except when the setup for the end-of-the-world action movie is interrupted by chipmunks. That part’s a little weird.

As a total review of the year’s movies, this reel actually does a fantastic job. Everything is in here. The great movies are here. The terrible movies also are here. The good news is the bad ones are only there for a moment. If there’s a negative side to the mashup, it’s that it tries to cram so many movies into the video that we don’t get to see much of the scenes that we remember loving. While a few movies are shown more than once, they rarely get more than a couple seconds at a time. It’s there just long enough for you to recognize it before it changes to another clip.

We also don’t get any trailers that were released in 2015, but for movies set for 2016. So, the big reveal like the trailer for Captain America: Civil War or Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them aren’t included. We’ll have to wait until the end of 2016 for that mashup, apparently.

Trailer editing is very much an art. You have to be able to put the scenes together in a way that tells enough of the story to get people interested, hopefully, without telling the entire movie’s story in the trailer. This mashup has the benefit of not needing to tell a story, though we have to say whatever movie this is for we wish we could watch it. Do you have a favorite movie trailer of the year? Outside of the movie itself was there a trailer from 2015 that you remember being particularly good? Let us know in the comments.
